My journey as a photographer is deeply rooted in my experience of living with chronic illness and disability for over fifteen years. For eight of those years, the weight of pain, depression, and a tumor kept me from pursuing my passion. Yet, after years of suffering, I found the spark to reignite my creative vision, using photography as a means to reclaim my voice and purpose.
My work is a reflection of this transformative journey, driven by a profound desire to give voice to the unseen and unheard. Centered on uncovering hidden worlds within the ordinary, I explore the nuances and complexities often overlooked in our daily lives. Through form and abstraction, I aim to reveal the deeper stories embedded in the everyday, bringing a compassionate lens to themes of mental health, women’s rights, human rights, and disability.
As a migrant to the UK, my art carries the weight of duality—a connection to Iran, my homeland, where I am both deeply rooted and painfully distant. This tension of belonging and displacement informs my work, adding emotional depth to my exploration of identity, health, and resilience.
Photography is not merely a tool for capturing images; it is my way of seeing, understanding, and sharing stories that demand attention and empathy. My goal is to create work that resonates on a visual and emotional level, fostering compassion for the unseen struggles many endure. By sharing my journey and perspective, I hope to illuminate the resilience of the human spirit and encourage a deeper understanding of the complex layers that shape who we are.
Through my art, I strive to inspire connection and empathy, offering a space for reflection and dialogue about mental health, identity, and the beauty within struggle.
